- I recently purchased a U.S. Robotics 28,800 Sportster Data/FAX Modem
- (internal) and am using Trumpet Winsock 2.0E for internet access on
- my good-old 486DX33 machine running Windows 3.11 for Workgroups. I could
- connect to the PPP server 28800 or 26440 most of the times. However,
- the data transmission seems to be slow, Here are my questions:
-
- 1. what is the expected speed when transfering (FTP-ing) a compressed
- file from a not-so-busy ftp server on the same LAN? (I've been
- getting around 2kp uder NETSCAPE 2.01, the status window shows)
-
- 2. How can I check the the data and information on the modem BIOS?
-
- 3. What is the "best" TRUMPET Winsock configuration for use with
- the USR True v34 modem?
-
- Please reply my mail. Any help will be appreciated.
